The Stackpool Room has up to 30 children aged 3 – 4, all year round. This room is for our older children, and this is reflected in the spaces that they have which can be used for exploring, playing, and learning.

In the Stackpool Room, much like the Ruby Room and the Raleigh Room the children are encouraged to increase their independence to prepare them for the next stages of their lives at primary school. Our practitioners encourage increased independence, in preparation for when they leave us for school. There is more of an emphasis on routine, and the children enjoy this being visually represented up on the wall. More adult lead physical activities, although still informed by the children, take place too, including yoga, and meditation.

The cosy sensory room, dotted with blankets and cushions, is a peaceful space where children can read stories individually or as a group, or simply just to have some down time. The creative room is separate from the main room, giving plenty of opportunity to really get stuck in and make a mess! Here the children enjoy painting, creating, and exploring sensory play.  We also have a corner dedicated to imagination and encouraging our children to explore theirs. This free-flowing room has the children’s interests at heart, and they have lots of fun whilst they learn.

September 2024

This month in Stackpool Room, the children made Stickman hats for Julia Donaldson week; we think you’ll agree that they look fantastic! We have very much enjoyed the return of forest school and getting in touch with nature in the garden and in the creative room too.

We have spent lots of time talking about families, the community and what makes us, us. As part of this conversation, we created an activity to celebrate our differences and similarities by looking in the mirror and drawing self-portraits.

August 2024

This month has been a busy one. We excitingly celebrated our preschool leavers and had a beautiful graduation in the hall with the parents to say goodbye and good luck. We have been celebrating/exploring the Balloon Fiesta this month too by diving deep into messy play creating our own balloons out of paper mâché. The children loved painting and decorating them.

In preschool we have also been exploring our facial features. A few of our friends have enjoyed looking at their reflection in the mirror and talking about what they can see. A few children have also enjoyed mark making and enjoying creating a picture of a lion using different resources.

July 2024

Stackpool Room have had a fun packed July. We’ve been lucky enough to head out on some trips to Windmill Hill City Farm. Some of the children were a little bit worried about feeding the animals, but by the end of the session they had the confidence to feed the animals by themselves; we were so proud of them. We also helped water the plants, then picked some carrots and enjoyed trying some herbs.

Some of our children have had fun playing the starring roles in a playful Olympic torch relay video to celebrate the opening ceremony. We also made our own little sail boats as part of our Harbour Festival celebrations and the children loved setting them to sail in the water tray outside.
