Our Nurseries
BS3 Community provides excellent early education and childcare in our two community centres located in lovely Southville and Bedminster. Our Southville Centre, an old school bought from the Council for only a pound, was opened in 1991 and the charity added a nursery provision to the organisation shortly after. Our Chessel Centre is purpose built with little people in mind, as well as with room hire for the surrounding community, and was opened in 2017.
Our nurseries really capture the community feel of the charity, and they have a certain soul to them that is hard to put your finger on. Here at BS3, we offer beautiful outside spaces for your children to play in. Our friendly and inclusive staff encourage child-led play, and our caterers provide them with healthy and fresh food.

We are proud to have successfully achieved and maintained the Bristol Standard over the past 5 years.
The Bristol Standard is recognised nationally and internationally as an outstanding framework to support a journey of continuous improvement within nurseries. It brings teams together with a shared vision and supports ongoing staff professional development.
NELI Preschool
We are excited to announce our preschool rooms: Ruby Room, Stackpool Room and Raleigh Room have been selected to participate in a trial programme that will support children’s reading and language. The Nuffield Early Language Intervention in Preschool (NELI Preschool) is a 20-week oral language enrichment programme for children in the year before they start Primary School. NELI Preschool aims to improve vocabulary, develop narrative skills, encourage active listening and build confidence in speaking through shared book reading an guided play.
Members of our staff have undergone training and we have been gifted shiny, new Learning Screens to support the delivery of this programme. Daily language enrichment sessions will be delivered by our trained practitioners involving carefully selected books, rhymes and song. We hope this programme will extend your children’s vocabulary, develop their active listening skills and help them focus for longer. All of these traits will prepare them for the activities they will be doing in Reception class come September.
