The Chessel Centre nursery was designed and purpose-built in 2017 with fun, adventure and education in mind. Our adaptable building offers a cosy and nurturing environment for children aged nine months to five years. We place emphasis on the importance of celebrating and nurturing individuals, whilst also promoting community values.
Our nursery reflects the needs of our children as they journey through our spaces. Our littlest friends enjoy a homely and calming space dedicated to supporting them on their first adventure outside their home that flows into our toddler room where more adventures await. In preschool, our friends play and learn in an environment that encourages curiosity and exploration.
We carefully cultivate our resources and activities with our inquisitive little friends in mind by our experienced practitioners who are always looking for new ways to learn through play.
A day in the life of our little ones
Free Play
By providing free play opportunities, where our team can follow the children’s lead, we can make sure that everyone’s voice is valued and create experiences that fully engage each child.
Small Group Time
We create tailored activities for smaller groups of children to support holistic development for each child. Small group time can range from a specific activity for an individual to a joint task for a little group of friends and promotes confidence, problem-solving and collaboration.
Circle Time
We gather together as a larger group, enjoying singing, yoga and stories. Circle time helps to develop key skills including taking turns, listening and choosing as a group.
Outdoor Play
Our nursery spaces look out onto our dedicated garden area, which can be accessed from both sides of the building through bi-fold doors, ensuring that children enjoy lots of fresh air and opportunities for outdoor play.
Meal & Snack Time
We sit together to enjoy our healthy and nutritious meals and snacks. Meal and snack times provide opportunities to try new flavours whilst enjoying the company of our friends.
Nap Time
We create a calm and secure environment for all children who need to sleep during the day, supporting them to fall asleep in their individual preferred way. Rested children are happy children and we will work with each family to ensure that we are supporting your child’s sleep needs.

We can take advantage of our community spaces, popping to the Jasper Room for special group times and set ups and events.
Extra Activities
We enrich the opportunities available at nursery by offering French and Spanish lessons as optional paid-for extras, along with Forest School for preschool children.
Trips & Excursions
We love to connect to our community by going on trips around our Centres. We might pop to the post office to post a letter, buy some fruit at the Grocers or head to the park for a play.
