Our Term Time Preschool offers the perfect setting to support your child’s developing independence
The Term Time Preschool, based at the Southville Centre, operates during Bristol City Council’s designated school term times, with five additional inset days to allow for planning and staff training.
Open to children aged two-years-nine-months to five years, our Term Time Preschool provides a gentle introduction to early education and the opportunity to make friends with children in the area who may be going on to school together.
Our dedicated staff team provide varied and creative activities and resources to encourage curiosity, investigation and fun, giving the children all the tools they need for primary school. We place emphasis on the importance of celebrating and nurturing individuals, whilst also promoting community values.
A day in the life of our little ones
Free Play
By providing free play opportunities, where our team can follow the children’s lead, we can make sure that everyone’s voice is valued and create experiences that fully engage each child.
Small Group Time
We create tailored activities for smaller groups of children to support holistic development for each child. Small group time can range from a specific activity for an individual to a joint task for a little group of friends and promotes confidence, problem-solving and collaboration.
Circle Time
We gather together as a larger group, enjoying singing, yoga and stories as a community. Circle time helps to develop key skills including taking turns, listening respectfully and choosing as a group.
Garden Play
We love to play outside in our vast garden, climbing in the trees; exploring water play; planting in the allotment; scooting around; and using the mud kitchen.
Meal & Snack Time
We ask you to provide a healthy snack and packed lunch for your child to enjoy at Preschool. Snack and lunch time are spent gathered around the table, enjoying each other’s company. If you are booked in for breakfast or Playmates wraparound sessions, we will provide breakfast and tea.
Outdoor Classroom
Our outdoor classroom provides ample opportunity to continue learning and exploration outside. Here we enjoy playing with water and sand in the tuff trays as well as growing our own flowers and vegetables.

Bonus Fun
Centre Exploration
We can take advantage of our community spaces, popping to our Community Café for a group time babyccino or playing large indoor games in the Milford Hall.
Extra Activities
We enrich the opportunities available at nursery by offering French and Spanish lessons as optional paid-for extras, along with Forest School for preschool children.
Trips & Excursions
We love to connect to our community by going on trips around our Centres. We might pop to the post office to post a letter, buy some fruit at the Grocers or head to the park for a play.
Funded Hours
Families can access 15 funded hours or (subject to eligibility and availability), 30 hours of funding between 9am to 3pm, offered in the following Groups:
