Early Years Apprentice

Will you be our next Early Years Apprentice?

BS3 Community Development is committed to upskilling and supporting apprentices into the Early Years sector. We are looking for a caring and motivated Early Years Apprentice to join our nursery team.

Your new opportunity…

We have an apprentice position available working with our children aged 9 months to school age.

All our apprentices study and are employed on 23-month contracts. You will have the opportunity to work in two different age groups during your studies.

If you are passionate about providing our nursery and preschool children with an exciting, safe, secure and fun environment that offers adventure and friendship to help them begin a life-long love of learning – we want to hear from you!

We promise our parents/carers that their child will be a valued member of our community, that their voice will be heard, and that we will always strive to do our best for them, and you will be essential in creating these professional bonds. You will see the potential in all the children in our care and will work closely with our team to create interesting opportunities for each child to develop, shine and grow.

Whilst some experience in a childcare setting would be preferable, we are interested to hear from you if you are looking to begin your career in early years. The post is listed as full time, but we are committed to supporting your studies and would support up to 6 hours a week as dedicated study time with 34 hours per week spent working as an apprentice in our rooms.

Our new apprentice will be….

Passionate about your journey – motivated, reliable and have a positive attitude and approach to work with children.

About us: We are committed to supporting our team members’ continued professional development, and also providing you with opportunities to further your interests through statutory and non-statutory training. We aim to innovate and are excited to include you in our work on exciting projects such as the Ambitious Two-Year-Old Project, the Bristol Standard and furthering our aims to promote intergenerational work with our nursery children and our older friends.

We can offer the right candidate a fantastic opportunity in a unique childcare setting. We are a charity and run as a community business and we are proud to say that we reinvest our profits back into developing the community of the children we look after.

About you and the role:  Your role involves supporting the smooth running of the nursery during lunch time and assisting with activities and experiences for children.  Some previous related experience is desirable including first aid and food hygiene training; however, we would be willing to offer training and support to the right candidate.

HOURS: 40 hour per week contract with 34 hours working and 6 hours study time.

RATE OF PAY: £8.00 per hour as a starting salary increasing to £8.24 in year 2, unless you have completed your first year’s training and you are over the age of 19, in which case the rate will be in line with the government minimum. This is a 2-year fixed contract whilst undertaking and studying a Level 3 Childcare course.

QUALIFICATIONS: Can be unqualified or minimum recognised Level 2 qualification

CLOSING DATE: Applications due by 11.59pm (23:59) Monday the 10th of June.

INTERVIEWS: Week commencing Monday the 10th of June.

SAFEGUARDING NOTE: As this role is working in a “regulated activity” according to the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, the successful applicant will require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Certificate (DBS).
