Riverside Herb Garden Donations

We’ve gone GREEN – and you’ll be green with envy when you feast your eyes on the Chessel Centre‘s brand new herb wall in their garden. Our brilliant Emma, and the Garden Committee, have been planning how to introduce plants into our Chessel Centre garden. After some discussions, we decided to create a hanging herb sensory wall which could grow alongside the children. Emma then got in touch with Riverside Garden Centre to see if they could help us out… They did not disappoint!

They asked us to pop over to pick up a few bits and, as you can see, we were delighted with their generous donation. So, we’d like to give a shout out to Abigail and the team for supplying us with a range of herbs, compost, some large planters and a bag full of sunflower seeds for the children to plant.

The Pearl Room children helped to plant some of the lower hanging herbs. The children carefully scooped up the compost from the big bag and shook it into the pouch before gently placing the herb babies in their new beds. It was lovely to see how much they enjoyed the process. We can’t wait to watch the plant babies grow with them!

Our friends in the Ruby Room tried planting sunflowers in small group time, working together to plant their seeds. They learned how they would need to look after them with water and sunlight. Later, they took their seedlings home and were excited to look out for new shoots starting to appear. Watch this space…

Riverside Garden Centre is run as a social enterprise. One of their main aims is to assist projects which make a real difference to local communities. Due to this, they love to promote gardening-related schemes by donating plants, trees and compost. They support many schools and nurseries, mainly in South Bristol and we are so grateful for their help and support with this project. We are looking forward to learning lots from their talented gardeners as we continue to grow.
