Regular Fun Stuff readers will know that the Southville Centre Nursery Allotment has been back up and running since May this year. This is our third year taking part in the Planting Project in association with Blaise Nursery Bristol and it is already shaping up to be our best year yet!
We have already harvested (and eaten!) some early strawberries and last week our little gardeners were very excited to pick and share some spring greens from the Allotment. Our Allotment Crew carefully picked large leaves of spring greens in the garden. They then made the short trip to give the veg over to our BS3 Community Café team. Becky, Haley and Daisy then worked their magic and turned the veg into a nutritious and yummy lunch for our older friends in Monday Club. Talk about local produce!
Look at this plate of deliciousness:

Our older friends thoroughly enjoyed their spring vegetable pie with spring greens, made even tastier because the produce had been grown in our very own garden.
What is Monday Club?
Monday Club is our flagship service for local older people. It aims to reduce loneliness and isolation by inviting our older neighbours for lunch, activities and friendship every Monday at the Southville Centre.
Feeling hungry?
If all this talk of food has got your tummy rumbling, fear not! You can enjoy tasty treats too – our BS3 Community Café is open daily. Why not come and see what we are cooking up?
