Loneliness Awareness Week

Loneliness Awareness Week 2025 hosted by Marmalade Trust runs from 9th – 15th June.

Meeting Loneliness Together, is this year’s theme which is all about reducing the stigma around this natural human emotion.

Marmalade Trust is a UK-based charity dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and empowering individuals to build meaningful social connections. Established in 2013, it operates primarily in the South West of England, including Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, and parts of Wiltshire.

It’s all about building supportive communities by simply chatting with your family, friends, or workmates about loneliness. Feeling lonely is totally normal – we’re all wired to need connection. Just talking about it can really help you and others feel a bit less alone. Loneliness is something we all experience at times – and you don’t always need a specific reason to feel this way. It affects everyone differently, and that’s completely normal.

The good news is, there are things you can do to feel more connected. Understanding what might be impacting your mental wellbeing is a helpful first step. It can give you insight into what you’re feeling and guide you toward positive changes. No matter what’s behind the way you’re feeling, there is support available from Marmalade Trust.

Support for Loneliness in the BS3 Area

Here at BS3 Community, we’re committed to supporting local residents who may be feeling lonely or isolated. That’s why we run two welcoming clubs designed to bring people together.

Our Monday Club for Older People based at the Southville Centre, is a weekly drop-in for older adults, running every Monday* from 11:30am to 2:00pm. Each session includes hot drinks and a delicious two-course lunch provided by our BS3 Community Café, along with a different activity each week to enjoy together. The suggested donation to take part is £5.00 per session.

If you or someone you know could benefit from a friendly space to connect, chat, and share, the Monday Club is a great place to start. To book a place or find out more, call our reception team on 0117 923 1039 or email info@bs3community.org.uk.

Our Tuesday Club, which takes place at St Philips Chapel in Bedminster, is a welcoming community space open every Tuesday from 9.30am to 4pm for anyone living in and around the Bedminster area and is free to attend. It’s a chance to connect with others, find support and access helpful resources.

We offer affordable food cupboard essentials for local residents experiencing difficulties. In addition, our Communities Team is on hand to offer guidance, including social prescribing, help accessing local services, and information about community events plus digital support for your phone or tablet.
