2024 was the UK’s fourth warmest year on record and the impacts of climate change are already being experienced locally. By the year 2080 average summer temperatures in Bristol are projected to increase by 3.1-7.6°C and the frequency of hot weather and heatwaves is projected to increase to four occurrences per year.
To build community resilience during this hotter weather Bristol City Council are developing a network of cool spaces across the city where people can get information and find respite from the heat, and we are happy to be part of this.
If you’re feeling the heat come on down to the Southville Centre and cool down. We’re happy to have you here. To make your visit more comfortable, we offer the following amenities.
- 💧 Drinking Water – Stay refreshed with clean, free water.
- 🪑 Seating Areas – Take a break and relax.
- 🚻 Accessible Toilet – Easily accessible restroom for all guests.
Everyone is welcome – please make yourself at home! Our café is open Monday to Friday for cold drinks and snacks.
If you come along please do scan the QR code displayed in the Southville Centre reception, or click here and provide some feedback to Bristol City Council. Your views are important for the development of a city wide cool space network.
